Free Tibet in China Town

As if you needed another reason to visit the China Town/Penn Quarter area, you should definitely come check out the Sera Monastery World Peace Tour 2011 just outside the National Portrait Gallery.  The Sera Monastery  is one of the ‘great three’ Gelukpa university monasteries of Tibet.

Among the fanny-packed tourists roam groovy Buddhist monks in traditional garb.

There are vendors and booths lined along the sidewalk with jewelery, clothing, books, CDs, and food.I got this really lightweight, sheer cotton Om shirt that will look super cute as a cover-up at the beach and make a great festival dress paired with boots.  And it was only 10 bucks!

They’re only here until July 16th so be sure to come check it out.  Directly across from the Gallery Place/China Town Metro stop!

Namaste for now– Aimee
